Code of Everand is a multiplayer online game, which has been developed by the Department for Transport, to engage children making the transition from Primary to Secondary school, on the topic of road safety. The aim is that players will improve their road safety behaviour and apply what they have learned in the game, to the real world as a learned response. The Department for Transport’s aim is to reduce child pedestrian casualties and deaths among this age group by allowing young people to practice good road safety behaviours through a channel which is known to be very popular among those making the transition to Secondary school. 

The Department for Transport (DfT) makes every effort to ensure that the information published on this website is accurate. However, the DfT cannot accept any liability for the content or accuracy of the published information. Visitors who rely on this information do so at their own risk.

The Code of Everand game is offered through various social networks. It is only available to persons who are registered members of the social network through which they access the game and are in compliance with the policies of terms of the use/service of that social network.

Use of data
The Code of Everand website requires child users to provide a parent's valid email address in order to register on the website, for parental consent purposes. We use this information to send the parent a message that can be used to activate the Code of Everand account, to notify the parent about our privacy practices, to send the parent communications either about the parent’s and child’s Code of Everand accounts or about features of our website. This email address is correlated with the account user name. We also collect from the child an account name (not their real name) and the child’s password on registration. Finally, we ask for school year for the purposes of evaluating the game and to understand who is playing Code of Everand.

The Department for Transport controls all personal information which is provided when you use the Code of Everand website. Personal information about account details will be shared with the agents of the Department for Transport to the extent necessary for the provision and maintenance of the web service.

If you send an enquiry by e-mail to either a specific contact or a general enquiry address identified on the DfT or Code of Everand website, we will only use your personal details obtained from your enquiry to respond to your query or improve the site. 

2. E-mail alert services sign up
We do not allow third-party companies to solicit or advertise to our users. Our intention is to keep Code of Everand free from any direct advertising.

3. Site usage information
i) Cookies

Cookies are used by the Code of Everand to enable Google Analytics to define user sessions and, in turn, provide meaningful reports about the behaviour of visitors to the website. Log files and logging allow us to record visitors' use of the site. DfT puts together log file information from all our visitors. Log files are records of the visits made to the site, including email addresses, usernames and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Log files therefore effectively contain personal information about you and the areas of the website that you have visited. We may use email addresses and usernames to track usage and to ensure users are following the site’s Terms of use. In addition, we may use an email address and user name to ban a user temporarily or permanently from the Code of Everand website if that user engages in inappropriate conduct on the site. We do not make any other use of this personal information, nor do we pass it on to any other organisation.

You can find out if we hold any personal information about you by making a "subject access request" under the Data Protection Act (DPA).  If we do hold information about you we will:

*	tell you who it could be disclosed to 
*	and let you have a copy of the information in an intelligible form.  
To help us give you the information you want, we need you to tell us which part of our Department you have been dealing with and why you believe we hold that information.  If you think the information is held by one of our agencies, you should send your request direct to that agency.
